Awakened

yellow haloed moon through the frosted window softly flow
your fingers touch my dreaming animated life below
how small your distant face and clock-like motions
drag upon the hidden spaces
like oceans tide upon proclivities dark bluff and cliff

upon the riverside veranda a child stands
naked to the river and calling to its waters
and the willows tufted on its banks
the white bird hunting fishes
remember back when he was conceived
we danced as birds
strummed their vihuela and mandolins
disgorged their mantra tune upon the walls
and we danced naked soul to soul
within the circle chalked upon this wooden floor
passing rivulets waved light upon the ceiling
from their lanes and from distant forests
howled the apes of former years
i hear that call again
and see love within that child represented

though you have gone
vanished in that dreaming second
i have you still framed within a yellow haloed moon
or lit upon the frosted window
a song upon the winter hoare i hear
and it is that same song of birds and mandolin
a strumming on my sorrows
