feather
brown feather on the path
where is your whole part
eaten by a fox this night
and how that dun fox will sing in future nights
in your crescendo voice
glissando and glosses
about the levity of life
and your bravado
and how the prey will find the hunter
but how i loved your smooth brown chest
and the bellows that blew upon your song
how i loved the brave originality
with which you said that all the world was ours
and how i love the way you died
leaving little in this morphic world
but a feather and some happy lips
and of course
that rejoinder to my memory
